About

Anouk, known under her artist name Sian, is a Belgium-based artist. Her work is deeply rooted in the exploration of the inner world — translating inner landscapes such as emotions and subconscious states into visual compositions, mainly through portraits.

Often described as melancholic and dreamlike, Sian’s paintings are inspired by the shadow archetype, the subconscious mind, and the hidden emotional layers people carry within themselves.

Growing up with hearing loss and neurodivergence, she often found it difficult to put emotions and inner experiences into words, creating a sense of distance between herself and the world around her. Art and creative expression became a way to communicate what words could not — a space to process, understand and give form to what was otherwise difficult to express.

Working primarily with traditional media such as oil pastel and oil paint, her paintings explore themes of introspection, vulnerability, and the unseen aspects of the self, revealing the complexity of human emotion through atmospheric and expressive art.
